Logifruit closed 2011 with a turnover of more than €70m, a 12% increase in sales compared to 2010. These results were possible thanks to the long term agreement with Mercadona and its inter-suppliers and also thanks to the effort carried out by their employees to meet the client's needs at the best price.
LIn 2011, the company invested more than €14 million. One of the most significant investments was the introduction of the half pallet.
The company understood that, in times of crisis, the best option is to adapt.
1996: LOGIFRUIT IS SET UP
The Company starts its activity with for Mercadona’s fruit and vegetable suppliers in Polígono de Fuente del Jarro de Paterna. Logifruit is set up in order to cover the social need to use cheaper and environmentally friendly containers.
1997: WE MOVED TO RIBARROJA
The Company moves to Ribarroja del Turia. We introduce new rigid containers such as 6424, 6418 and 6412. Logifruit starts its activity in Albatera, Antequera and Getafe.
1998: NEW CLIENTS
The company continues growing and this second year some more Mercadona suppliers (eggs, fish meat and cold meats) are incorporated to our client portfolio. Turnover increases and this year we overcome €1.5 million.
1999: NEW BRANCHES
We open new factories in Tenerife, Palma de Mallorca and Tarrasa and Logifruit starts working with Mercadona’s dairy product suppliers. Staff increases to more than 100 employees and turnover reaches € 3 millions.
2000: MORE THAN 100 EMPLOYEES
In 2000 we reached 125 employees. At this point, we were moving 26 million containers yearly, generating a turnover of €4 million.
Employees are an essential part of our corporate culture. In order to reduce employee strain, we introduced a process of automation, although staff numbers continued increasing to reach 130 people at the end of 2001.
2002: NEW HEADQUARTERS
The company is growing very fast and administration needs to grow accordingly. Therefore, our headquarters were moved to one of the newest parts of Valencia, Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas. This year, our staff numbers were 165, more than 50 million containers movements were carried out, and we made a turnover of €7 million. We continued growing.
2003: NEARLY 200 EMPLOYEES
2003 ended with us having nearly 200 employees. We opened a new plant in Hospital de Órbigo. We became a container renting pool system and started moving more than 58 million containers. Turnover reached €9 million and a long term agreement with Mercadona continued bearing fruit.
2004: NEW SERVICES AND FIRST CARDBOARD PRESS
Not only did we increase our turnover (nearly €13 million) and staff (269), but we also added to our services. In 2004, we started classifying pallets and press and manipulating cardboard. The first line was installed in Huévar, which was also opened in 2004. We also started working in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in Junimar.
2005: NEW CONTAINERS AND THE FIRST PALLET
We moved our head office in Catalonia from Tarrasa to Sant Sadurni d´Anoià. We continued introducing logistic innovations: box 77 and foldable crate 624, which have given excellent results. In July, the first Logifruit pallet was introduced.
During this year some important changes occurred: the branch in Pinto was moved to Ciempozuelos, one of the most up-to-date factories within the organisation. Staff number nearly doubled the figure from 2004, to nearly 500 employees. Container movements were around 127 million and turnover reached €27 million.
2007: 150 MILLIONS MOVEMENTS
Figures continued increasing. This year Logifruit containers capacity increased to 150 million units. This strength would not have been possible without our dedicated and responsible workforce. In 2007, turnover reached €35 million. We also opened a new warehouse in Las Palmas.
2008: 50 MILLION SALES
The plant in Hospital de Órbigo was moved to Villadangos, in León. All plants started incorporating pallet manipulation systems and cardboard press systems. This was a big step forward to achieving our objective of becoming environmentally responsible. This year, 174 million containers were moved and turnover reached €50 million.
2009: INTRODUCTION OF PALOT
The introduction of Palot was a milestone in the company's history as it allowed us to optimise truck loads. In 2009, we made a turnover of €57 million. Mercadona built new facilities in Palma de Mallorca and San Isidro and we moved into them in order to carry out our activities.
2010: OPENING OF A NEW BRANCH IN ZARAGOZA
We started working with Mercadona in Zaragoza. This closed up the logistic network with 11 sites around Spain. This network covers all current clients in Spain. We closed 2010 with a turnover of €62 million.
2011: THE NEW HALF PALOT
The introduction of pallets was decisive for optimising container movements. The introduction of _ pallets reduced CO2 emissions by more than 5 tons. Turnover reached €70 million.
